Siliserh Lake

The picturesque Siliserh Lake is a man-made lake located in the city of Alwar, Rajasthan. The lake is about 13 kms away from the city and is spread 7 sq kms in the area. It expands up-to 10 sq km area when it is filled entirely. It is exactly located towards the north eastern part of Rajasthan. Natural backdrop of Aravali hills adds to the beauty of the Siliserh Lake, which also provide stay options. The Lake is also a water reservoir which is used to channelize water to the city of Alwar. Siliserh Lake was constructed approximately 100 years ago. Today, the lake provides boating facility for tourists around the year except rainy season. The Lake Place is converted into Heritage Hotel by Rajasthan Tourism which offers a mesmerizing experience of staying in an architectural abode with a splendid view of the breathtaking palace. The Lake is also the address of migratory birds and several spacious gardens are built near the lake. The Siliserh Lake offers a unique and authentic experience to visitors.

History

In 1848, the Siliserh Lake was built by Maharaja Vinay Singh for citizens of Alwar. An impressive Lake Palace was built by Maharaja Vinay Singh for his adored wife Sila, which was also used as a lodge. The palace is high rise overlooking the waters of the Siliserh Lake which was a famous resort amongst the kings of Alwar’s.

Near to Siliserh Lake, there is a detour which takes the visitors to several other tourists’ spots. Some of them are –

Tijara

Tijara city is an old historic place located towards north east of Alwar. It is located 48 kms away from Alwar and houses a scenic fort. Khairthal is the nearest railway station but Tijara is also accessible through Daruhera-Alwar road. It the biggest industrial area of Rajasthan and mainly dominated by Yadav’s.

Ajabgarh

This place is popular for the temple of Shri Ranghnath Ji. From the south of Thana Ghazi in Alwar, there is town Ajabgarh. It has a fort, which lies in the environs of Sariska, and in between Pratapgarh and Bhangarh forts. The fort proffers a pleasing view of the surrounding areas.

Sariska National Park

Sariska Tiger Reserve is located in the Alwar district and is a wildlife reserve since 1955. The Park has a status of tiger reserve and also is a part of India’s Project Tiger. The National Park is situated at 20 kms from the Siliserh Lake and the tourists can enjoy the wildlife safari which is available during morning or evening time or even a full day safari can be enjoyed. Near the Sariska National Park popular Kankarwari fort and Pandupole temple are located.

Vijay Mandir Palace

This palace was built in 1918 by Maharaja Jai Singh and permission is required before visiting this palace. Vijay Mandir Palace also houses the famous Sita Ram temple.

July to March is the best time to visit Siliserh Lake. Tourists can enjoy water activities like water scooter or boating
