Fair Epitome

This fair is held at the creative and beautiful city of Rajasthan. Named after Baba Ramdev, he was believed to have magical powers and is believed that he is an embodiment of lord Krishna. Respected by both the Hindus and Muslims this fair is celebrated in the honor of death anniversary of Baba Ramdev, a respected saint of ramdevra village.

This fair is held for ten days in the month of august and September and according to the Hindu calendar it  is celebrated from bhadon sudi 2 to bhadon sudi 11. This ten day celebration is enjoyed with great excitement and joy and attracts loads of travelers and also people from the adjacent areas.

Significance of The Fair

Lots of devotees attend the fair to pay their homage to Baba Ramdev. He is also known as ram Shah Pir by the Muslims. Baba Ramdev stood for the equality and well being of the human beings and has always lend hands to help the poor. This fair is specially conducted in respect to Baba Ramdev.

Devotees offer Puja stuffs, rice, coconuts, churma and hand made wooden horses by the local people at his door. This fair is filled with devotees only to pay homage to Baba Ramdev irrespective of caste, color, creed and religion. Even functions are held in which bhajans and kirtans are sung by the troops. People pay their respect by singing bhajan and kirtans all night. Basically this is a religious fair in which the main attraction is Baba Ramdev and the religious song of Baba, sung by the local people.

Tourist consequences

The main center for the tourist is the Samadhi-Mandir, the temple of ramapir which also include the samadhis of his parents. The other Samadhi to be looked at are of his grandfather raja ranjitsinhji and the elder brother viramdevji and two sons of ramdevji. Others samadhis are also there to look up at. The everyday arti of the temple is a must attend function.

Also the soothing Bhajans and kirtans of Baba Ramdev sung by the devotees are the main attraction and should be listened to gain peace.

By Bus

Easy and short distance can be travelled from pokhran to Ramdev village which is only 12 kilometers far. Special buses are offered from Madhya Pradesh, Gujrat, Maharastra for the fair. Also daily bus services are there from Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer to ramdevra village. You can drive from Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur by car. Also you can drive from Delhi to pokhran and reach within fifteen hours covering 766 kilometers. Also you can drive from Jodhpur to Pokhran by car and reach within three hours covering 160 kilometers.

By Train

You can take the Delhi Jaisalmer Express from Delhi and Jodhpur Jaisalmer Express from Jodhpur.

By Air

There is no airport in Pokhran but the nearest airport to Pokhran is Jodhpur airport.
