Zakir Hussain Museum

The Zakir Hussain Museum is located within the campus of Jamia Milia Islamia University in New Delhi. It is situated in Okhla and was established in the year 1972 in the memory of late Dr. Zakir Hussain who was the third president of India and preserves and displays all the memorabilia of this great man.  Dr. Zakir Hussian along with few others established the Jamia Milia Islamia University.

Features of Zakir Hussain Museum

This is a small museum within the university itself and houses souvenirs, memorabilia and photographs of the doctor himself during the time when he served as the president of this country. It also displays his personal belonging and a unique and interesting collection of geological specimen made by the doctor himself who was also a Bharat Ratna recipient.

In fact, here you will get to see lot many things those were used by Dr. Zakir Hussain. These have been preserved well.

On Exhibit

This is a museum dedicated solely to Dr. Zakir Hussain and here you will find the following:

  • Photographs of Dr. Zakir Hussain during the time when he was the president of India
  • Souvenirs and mementos acquired by the doctor during his term as the president
  • Memorabilia received by the doctor when he was serving as the president
  • The prestigious Bharat Ratna awards and all the other awards received by this great leader all throughout his life
  • Many personal belongings of the leader
  • Interesting and intriguing geographical specimens collected by the doctor himself.

  • Timings: It is open from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on all days except Fridays, and public holidays
  • Ticket Cost: Entry in this museum is free

How To Reach

By Road

It is a located in well connected place and you can reach this place from any corner of the city by a cab or an auto easily.  You will get local auto from the Pragati Maidan and also from the Central Secretariat Metro Station.

By Air

Delhi is the capital of the country and it is connected to all the other major cities of the country and the world at large via air. Regular flights are available for all the capital cities of the world and all the major cities of the country as well. Once, you reach the airport, you can take taxis to come to this museum easily!

By Train

Delhi has an extensive network of railway as well with trains connecting the capital city with rest of the country.
There is also the metro or tube rail service that connects all the important areas of the city. The nearest metro stations to this museum are Jasola and Okhla metro stations via the Violet Line.

By Bus

Delhi has also efficient bus services and DTC buses connect all the major places of the city. There are regular buses available that would take you to this museum from rest of the city.
