One of the quite famous locations of Delhi, the Naini Lake is situated in the Model Town and is reasonably well maintained. Although this lake is not that vast; yet it is large enough. Naini Lake may not be as vast as some of the more famous lakes in Delhi but it is big enough to support boating.  Far distances from North Delhi could be easily covered through the boating facilities. There are a lot of visitors in this area during holidays and summers.

History

The well-built promenades surround the lake and make it an ideal place for many culverts who wish to take some break for relaxation and the brisk walkers. The periphery of the area is lined up with long and lush green palm trees with a lake bearing an overall serene look unlike the busy city streets. This was actually the sole motive behind introducing this lake to people.

Geography

A densely populated residential area covers up the lake from all the sides. The Naini Lake is a under the canopy of a spic and span locality. This place is very much well developed with lots of food joints and restaurants present in the vicinity. Being a properly maintained lake, it is quite famous for the local residents. In addition to this, there is a petite island situated in the centre of the lake amidst a tree, which acts as a shelter to numerous water birds. Besides the cutest pigeons and ducks, visitors can also spot vibrantly coloured Kingfishers, if lucky. It is basically an artificial and manmade construction that is inspired from beauty and purity. It is situated in the Model Town of Delhi and covers 12 acres area and 3 feet depth. It is rectangle in shape and has a surrounding of quite a lot of plantations on the southern banks. Pedal boating is available for visitors at quite a negligible rate.
