This is the reason they think that the food they eat is ‘Anna He Poornabrahma’ which means that they consider their food equal to the origin of the creation of life on the earth, that is, Brahma. For them food is everything and it must be worshipped by everyone. And for this reason before eating their food, people in Maharashtra believe in offering their food to the God for thanking him for giving him everything. Maharashtrian food covers a range from very mild to very spicy dishes. In festive seasons, sweets are an essential part of the food as they offer it to God. Ukadiche Modak is a sweet dish made on Ganesh Chaturthi and Sheera is made on the Satyanarayan Puja. Other popular dishes include puran poli and batata wada.
