Pd Govind Ballabh Pant Government Museum

Pd. Govind Ballabh Pant Government Museum in Almora has a rich collection of terracotta, paintings, coins, ivory copper plates and local art and craft. The museum also has a library where rich collection of books and artefacts related to the region can be seen.

The museum was established in 1980 at Central Lodge in Almora. You can also check Boshi Sen’s personal collection and miniature paintings in this museum.

Climate

March to November is considered to be the best time to plan a visit to Almora. Temperature rarely goes beyond 30 degree during summers making it a pleasant place to visit during summers. Winters are harsh in Almora and you will rarely find visitors during December and January in Almora.

Timings

Pd. Govind Ballabh Pant Government Museum opens at 10:30 am until 4:30 pm in the evening. The museum is closed on Monday and other gazetted holidays. The museum is open on Sundays too except for the second Sunday of every month.

Pantnagar airport at a distance of 127 km from Almora is the nearest air link to the town.

By Rail

If travelling by train, you can disembark at Kathgodam station which is 90 km from Almora.

By Road

Almora is well connected by road and is 380 km from New Delhi. Uttarakhand State Road Transport Corporation operates regular bus service between New Delhi and Almora.
