Fairy Queen Locomotive

Rajasthan is one of the finest places known for its royal palaces, grand forts and picturesque locations. There are several attractions, that catch the attention of people, but Fairy Queen is the most popular among them. It is one of the oldest locomotives of world, which runs through the steam and connects New Delhi to Alwar. The locomotive is considered the most lavish and luxurious trains that have increased the tourism of Rajasthan largely.

This train was designed in England in the year 1855 and operated at the speed of 40 kilometres per hour. The construction work was handled by Thompson, Kitson and Hewitson together and was initially used to travel to Calcutta then. Its service was suspended in 1909 and taken to National Rail Museum, New Delhi where it was the most sought after attraction for tourists. In the year 1997, Fair Queen was again re-launched with excellent services and was open to people. The train also has its name in the Guineas Book of World Records.

Fairy Queen consists of only two coaches; one is for passenger that is fully air conditioned while the other is a pantry car. The first coach has seating arrangements for about 50 people who can enjoy their trip from New Delhi to Alwar and then back again. The most appealing part of the train is its spacious lounge, which is located right in front of the passenger coach. The passengers can have a great time enjoying spectacular views of Rajasthan as the train moves from New Delhi to Alwar.
