Deccan Odyssey has eleven passenger carriages, one conference car, two presidential suite cars, one car for bar and spa, two restaurant cars and one carriage for the staff. There are four coupes in the passenger cars each one accommodating four passengers. There are four presidential suites, each car having two having the amenities of television, wardrobes, attached washrooms, intercom, art décor interiors, doctor on call, foreign exchange, channel music and many other facilities. The train displays the art and culture of the state, the exquisiteness of the Konkan coast, the wildlife and the cuisine and local Maharashtrian culture. The luxury train moving through the muttering valleys, elegant green stretches, long tunnels, displays the multicolored beauty of the states of Maharashtra and Goa. It is a very piebald experience that starts when the journey starts from Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra and proceeds towards across Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Vasco, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ellora, Ajanta and Nashik. Facilites

The Deccan Odyssey in India is said to be a kind of bravura sign of Indian luxury travel as Venice Simplon-Orient Express is in Europe. Accommodation

There are eleven Deluxe saloons in the train which are all air conditioned and each one has four twin bed cabins. These cabins are furnished with wall to wall carpeting, channel piped music, CD/MP3 player, intercom, attached washrooms, showers, running cold and hot water, etc. In the guestrooms of the Deccan Odyyssey guests are also provided with a complimentary wine bottle.

Dining

The train runs with two restaurant cars, named Peshwa I and Peshwa II. Maharashtra cuisine is given the main importance but Goan, Chinese as well as continental food is also served here. Great care of Hygiene has been taken during preparing these dishes. The ingredients used are of finest quality. Throughout the journey only mineral water bottles are served.

Bar

The bar of the train is well stocked. All kind of wines and international liquor is served here. In the entire cabins complimentary wine bottle is provided.

Health

For work out enthusiasms there is a gymnasium. The passengers can also avail the facility of steam bath and Ayurvedic massage in the spa.

Conference

Keeping in mind the business amenities there is a conference room in the train where seminars and business meetings can proceed smoothly.

Shopping

The passengers can also shop for certain handicraft items onboard. There is a catalogue of Maharashtrian handicrafts Available.

Other Specifics

  • Each guest is provided with an arrival kit. It includes information brochures, stationery items etc. An attendant is always there to provide additional items.
  • Wheel chairs, crèches and special assistance is available for physically challenged passengers. An special attendant is also provided.
  • At the end of the journey a group photograph of all the passengers is taken and given as a souvenir so as to cherish the memories of the journey.
  • Each salon has a lounge where the passengers can relax read or simply enjoy the views of the country side. The luxury train also has a library for the passengers.
  • The luggage of the passengers is taken and transferred to the respective salon.
  • Onboard mails can be delivered and for this purpose a mail box is provided.
  • Onboard first aid facility is available and on the next station doctor can be arranged.
  • With the morning tea daily newspaper and the periodicals are given to the passengers.
  • Full care of the passengers’ safety as well as the safety of luggage is provided.
  • Special smoking zone for the passengers who are used to smoking are there.
  • A wide library of CDs as well as MP3 collection is there which are provided on request.
  • Packaged water is available on complimentary basis for the guests throughout the trip, during the journey and also during sightseeing.
  • Assistance is provided on travel arrangements once the tour is over.
  • 110/230 V voltage is available on the train.

Tariff

Following are the details of Deccan Oddysey Tariffs in peak as well as lean season:

Terms and Conditions

  • No fare for the Children under 5 years of age and no separate bed will be provided.  For Children between 5-12 years of age half fare will be imposed.
  • During the New Year and Christmas time 10% Surcharge extra has to be paid.
  • Any support for minimum two nights as per the availability will be provided at the above tariff. Extra 130 USD will be charged if the person takes the day program at Goa and Mumbai.
  • 3.09% service tax is charged on the gross value of the ticket.

Inclusions

  • In the tariff catering, travel, conducted sightseeing, entrance fee at Parks, monuments, Palaces, cultural programs and boat ride is included.
  • The tariff does not include the video camera fee, liquor or laundry charges.

Booking Policy

  • 20% advance has to be deposited for the booking.
  • Thirty days before the departure balance payment has to be made.

Cancellation Policy


Cancellation charges are as follows:

  • The Central Reservation Division at Head Office, Mumbai should be given the prior information regarding cancellation via e mail or fax. Also a letter of confirmation for cancellation must be sent by post to the same address.
  • The complete amount is not refunded. It is subjected to some deductions:
  • Five percent of the ticket value is deducted if the cancellation is done 60 days before the date of departure.
  • Twenty percent of the ticket value is deducted if the cancellation is done 30-59 days before the date of departure.
  • Fifty percent of the ticket value is deducted if the cancellation is done 15-29 days before the date of departure.
  • Hundred percent of the ticket value is deducted if the cancellation is done 14 days before the date of departure.
