Touring Rajasthan by palace on wheels is a dream come true for visitors because they get a chance of seeing forts and the lifestyle of Rajput royals. After the dawn of independence, they were kept in warehouses for 25 years. In 1981 and 82, Rajasthan tourism Development Corporation in conjugation with IRCTC decided to revamp the coaches and introduce them for promoting tourism in the state. The train was christened as palace on wheels because of its royal history and checkered past. Over a period of time, the government introduced many infrastructural changes in design of coaches. Railways preserved the aesthetic style however modern amenities were infused to make it more amenable for arriving visitors. Trips transcend the boundaries of Rajasthan and take people back into time.

Accommodation

The train is represented by air conditioned broad gauge coaches comprising of 14 saloons and 2 restaurants that captivate the imagination of people. Amazing grandeur awaits tourists who are bedazzled by the spectacle. Entering a coach transmits people to the time when royalty was held in high esteem. Climate controlled atmosphere and traditional design of Rajasthan is evident in the interiors of the coaches.

Facilities

Saloons are equipped with 4 cabins with personal bath and shower attached. It would go a long way in making the trip memorable for visitors. Palatial comforts are provided to tourists apart from amazing environment.

Dinning

Train is a foodie’s delight because it consists of two restaurants serving excellent cuisine ranging from traditional to continental cuisine. Personal attendant is available for each saloon where people can wine, dine and take a rest.

Bar

It is well stocked with drinks of international and national brands. Varieties of scotches and wines are served to the users. In addition to the bars there are plenty of entertainments for children.

Health

For further relaxation, a spa facility is introduced into the coaches. People can experience the Ayurvedic massage which will rejuvenate them for the next day. Laundry services are provided to the tourists in addition to Doctor on demand if there is any problem with health. All saloons are named after famous cities of Rajasthan such as Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Alwar.

Palace on wheels is equipped with Wi-Fi internet connection enabling people to connect with their friends and family members.

A huge souvenir shop is available for the tourists so that they can purchase handicrafts and painting immersed in the traditional culture of Rajasthan.

Décor of the saloons are unique in style and design but there is continuity in ethos. Coat of arms logo is embedded in each saloon representing the tradition of Rajasthan. Each saloon has a mini pantry for visitors to have tea, coffee and snacks. Enchanting yellow walls of saloons capture the imagination of users.

Jaipur

Sawai Madhopur

One could arrive at the station and head straight to Ranthambore Tiger reserve for Jungle safari. It is a memorable trip because people are able to watch panthers, tigers and sloth bear.
