Known as "the Land of Granary”, the state of Punjab has a wide variety of things to offer to anyone who visits the place. The cold and chilly winters start in December and it goes on to become extremely cold in the month of January. The temperatures are known to fall very low, even below 12ᵒC in the morning and the night sees temperatures below freezing point.

Between October and March, the weather of Punjab is soothing and comforting. The best way to enjoy this weather is in a cozy warm place. This is the best time to visit this place or come here for vacations as there is neither the suppressing heat of the sultry summer nor the heavy rains of monsoon. Festivals like Lohri, Diwali, Hola Mohalla and Dussehra for which Punjab is famous fall during this time. These festivals are celebrated all over the state with untiring sprit and zeal. You can be part of the lively celebrations and enjoy with the locals.

Climatic Conditions in Punjab

With the Himalayas in the Northeast and the semi dry dessert in the southeast, Punjab experiences an inland subtropical climate due to its location. Such climatic conditions result in the semi arid to sub humid continental weather in Punjab. Like all other parts of the country, Punjab also has three major seasons. Summers are hot and dry and experience temperatures up to 45°C. Starting in April, summers last till June. Then monsoon starts in July and ends in September. Monsoons come as a welcome relief from the extreme heat of summers. Annual rainfall levels are between 14 inches (360 mm) to 49 inches (1250 mm). The cold winters from October to March have temperatures around 13°C during day and the night temperature touches freezing point at times.
