Sarwan Singh Phillaur, who is the Minister for Cultural Affairs and Tourism of Punjab, initiated the involvement of special and dedicated team in order to encourage tourism and the inflow of tourists in Punjab.

The Heritage Walk of Amritsar, i.e. the traditional walk of Amritsar, has been winning National Level Awards of Tourism for some time now. These awards were presented ceremonially on 18th March 2013 at New Delhi. Chief Guest for this ceremony was the Indian President who presented different awards.

About Amritsar Heritage Walk

Because of this walk, Amritsar’s ethnicity and tradition is still alive and people come across the traditional architecture during the walk, which are the Akharas, Havelis, Katras, Hattis and Bungas.

Phillaur said the conventional trading system and the craft that prevailed during that time came alive through this event. The Heritage Walk gives a chance to witness this holy and beautiful city. This walk includes 14 break points. He also added that it comprises of Temples of Hindus, buildings of Maharaja Ranjit Singh among others.

Punjab Tourism award - BEST PRINT PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL AWARD

Pune’s fair-fest media ltd. has been successful in organizing the fair of tourism and travel for the second time, in which they created awareness amongst travel society. Around 12,000 people attended this fest.

“BEST PRINT PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL AWARD” was given to the Tourism of Punjab.

Tourism of Punjab is associated with 4 exhibitors, these are the hotels which are –

• Rajshree in Chandigarh
• Shagun in Zirakpur
• R.V. Continental in Amritsar

As it was the first promotional event by Tourism of Punjab in Pune, so a large number of visitors consisted of the journalism fraternity. Media promoted the idea of tourism of farm quite well.
