This city comes under Koeppen's CWG category, which means that summers are very hot and humid; winters are cool while heavy rainfall is experienced during the monsoons. In all, weather is usually dry all through the year.

Chandigarh enjoys four different seasons, (i) Summer or hot season (mid-March to Mid-June) (ii) Rainy season (late-June to mid-September); (iii) Post monsoon autumn/transition season (mid September to mid-November); (iv) Winter (mid November to mid-March). This cycle starts with summers when the climate is humid with maximum temperature reaching to 370C and minimum being 250C. In worst cases, the temperature may even go up to 440C and such conditions continue till June. After June, there is a fall in temperature with monsoon season making its way. An average rainfall of 700 mm to 1200 mm is experienced here. After the monsoon season, you have winters that usually start in last December and continue till mid March. In January, maximum temperature is 230C while minimum can be up to 3.60C. Winds from the northwest can definitely make the climate dry thus giving a signal of the summer season.

Summer

During the summer season, Chandigarh experiences a warm climate which is really terrible to bear. Coming for a visit during summers is a bad idea as the climate will definitely take away your energy. Maximum temperature during summers is 450C which starts from the march and ends in June. Till this time, the climate is really bad and scorching heat can leave you puzzled. On an average, the temperature during summers varies between 350C to 420C.

Monsoon

Monsoons in Chandigarh usually begin in July and continue till October. An average rainfall experienced here is somewhere about 1110.7 mm that gives a relaxed feeling to the people. After a rainfall, the city becomes very beautiful and you can thoroughly enjoy your day. Breathtaking views of Chandigarh will surely impress you a lot. Everywhere there is greenery around and you will love the atmosphere. Even the temperature falls down to 250C. During the evenings you can enjoy the views of Sukhna Lake or even take a walk around.

Winter

Once the monsoon season ends, it is time to welcome the winters. This is the best time when you can come to Chandigarh as the climate is pleasant and you will love the way climate changes from time to time. Mornings are refreshing while day becomes sunny and nights being chilly. During winters, the temperature usually falls to 04C.
