Krishna Balaram Mandir

Krishna Balaram Mandir is one of the main ISKCON temples in India and is also famous internationally. It is located in the city of Vrindavan and is a Gaudiya Vaishnava temple where disciples worship Lord Krishna. The temple has usual visitors and also international pilgrims visiting all around the year.

History

The temple was constructed in the year 1975 and is considered the most famous temples in Vrindavan. The temple was built on the orders of Bhaktivedanta, Swami Prabupada who is the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The Krishna Balaram Mandir has main deities of Krishna and Balaram in the center, and the statues of Radha Krishna, gopi, lalita and Vishakha on the right hand side. On the left hand side is a statue of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu with Nityananda and other holy saints. At the entrance of the temple, carved in white marble is shrine of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The temple had Swami ji’s house, post his demise in the year 1977 his house was converted into a museum. There are other things within the premises of the temple, like restaurant, guest house, gurukul and goshalla. The Krishna Balaram Mandir has crossed all standards of cleanliness inside and outside the temple.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the city of Vrindavan are the month of October/November and lasts up to the months of March/April. Tourists can enjoy shopping and sightseeing during these months. The summer season is very hot here with a temperature of 40 degree celcius.

Timings

The Krishna Balaram Mandir opens at 4:00am in the morning and mangal arti is performed at 4:30am immediately. The darshan for other devotees start at 7:15am and continuous till 11:00am. The afternoon arti and rajbhog is performed from 12noon to 12:30pm. The evening arti is performed from 4:00pm till 08:30pm in winter season. In summer season the arti time is extended by 15 minutes up to 08:45pm. Chanting of Hare Krishna mantra and kirtan happens all around the clock inside the temple.

Visitor Information

Within the temple premises near the Samadhi of Srila Prabhupada is Krishna Balaram Internet centre which is open daily from 10am to 1pm and then re-opens again at 4pm till 8:30pm. The internet facility is available for Rs 30 per hour with scanner, printer wifi network and other options.

How to Reach

The city of Vrindavan is well connected by all means of transport. The nearest station is Mathura and the closest airport is Delhi or Agra. The temple was constructed in the year 1975.

By Air

To reach Vridavan the most nearest and convenient airport is Delhi. There are also flights available from Kolkata and Mumbai.

By Rail

Vrindavan has a railway station but not many trains are connected. The nearest well connected railways station is Mathura which is well connected to any major cities.

By Road

Vrindavan is approximately 150 kilometers away from Delhi and has excellent roads connecting the cities. Regular buses carry passengers from Uttarpradesh, UP roadways and Haryana roadways.
