Suruli Falls

Suruli Falls is located in Theni District of Tamil Nadu, which is situated in the western part of the state. The main water course is Suruli River through which the waterfall originates from the Meghamalai mountain range. Suruli waterfall is exactly situated 56 kms from Theni district and 10 kms from Cumbum town. Suruli waterfall collapses from a height of 150 feet and then assembles in a collection, it then flows for a little distance and again crashes down again into an additional 40 feet height.

Location

Suruli falls is situated in Theni District of Tamil Nadu with an elevation of 410 m (1,350 ft) and a total height of 190 ft (58 m).

Activities to Do

Tourists can enjoy a spell of the shower at Suruli waterfall, the area has changing facility near the waterfall with shower rooms installed. Summer festival is celebrated every year by Tamil Nadu Tourism Department at the falls. Suruli falls is also popular for 18 caves representing the 18th century Indian rock-cut structural design. Suruli Velappar Temple, the temple of Lord Kartikeya, is located around a half kilometer away from waterfalls which can be visited by tourists. Abubacker Masthan, a Muslim mystic can visit the Dargah which is located nearby.

How to Reach

The best time to visit Suruli waterfall is June to October. One can reach Suruli falls only by road. The easiest way to reach the falls to travel by train till Dindigul and then get a road transport to reach Suruli falls which is 120 kilometers. Otherwise, tourists can travel by train till Kottayam railway station or fly till Kochi International airport and then avail road transport from Kumily.
