The lake is spread over an area of 65 acres. The main source of water in the lake still remains the same. During rainy season, water flows from upper ranges of the mountain, in the Ooty valley, finally to merge into Ooty Lake.  The catchment area of the hilly terrain provides ample water to pour into the lake.
