Victory War Memorial

The Victory War Memorial, previously known as the Cupid's bow, was built to commemorate the victory of Allied Army victory during the World War I. Later, this went to become the World War II victory memorial to commemorate the memory of the ones who lost their lives from the Madras Presidency. Later, the 1948 inscriptions of Kashmir Aggression, the 1962 China War and finally the Indo-Pakistan War were also added.

History

Located in the southern part of Marina Beach in Chennai, this fort is located to the south of Fort St. George. In fact, the 13 km long beach starts from this point onwards.

The memorial made of marble is of a circular shape. It's made of marble and is built where coastal belfry was once made. This structure commemorates the soldiers who gave their lives in the World War I. This war memorial is one among the two war memorials that the city has.
