Sadurangapatinam Beach

Sadurangapatinam beach is an ecological paradise that attracts nature lovers in large numbers throughout the year. The beach has lots to offer in terms of enchanting visuals of nature in its entire splendor. People love to stroll the length of the beach to enjoy the amazing sights that keeps unfolding here.

Sadurangapatinam is called Sadras locally. Located 16 km south of Mahabalipuram, it is predominantly inhibited by fishermen. It is believed that the village was a Dutch colony in the past. A ruined fort dating back to the 17th century was built by the Dutch for commercial purposes by the Dutch. It is a vast compound that encloses a huge granary and structures used to mount elephants. Today the whole place is in ruins save one of the structures.

The beach is a great place to spend a few hours amidst nature and the sea. It is an ecological paradise which attracts visitors throughout the year. You can enjoy boating conducted by the state-run Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. They also offer simple accommodation on the beach.

Sadurangapatinam is near the atomic power plant called the Madras Atomic Power Station and the Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research. Sadurangapatinam is connected to Kalpakkam through two bridges.
