The Birla mandir is also called the Birla Laxmi Narayan mandir. It is located at the foot of Moti Dungri hill in Jaipur. It is one of the major tourist attractions in Jaipur. The temple has idols of Laxmi Narayan and is made in pure marble. It is one of the architectural excellences of the city. The temple looks breathtakingly beautiful when lit in night. The temple was built by Birla Group of Industries in the year 1988. They were the business tycoons of India. The temple is known as the Laxmi Narayan because of the idols of Laxmi (goddess of wealth) and Narayan (Lord Vishnu). The temple has three domes and looks very eyecatching.

History

Birla family received a part of land from the Maharaja of Jaipur for a token of one rupee. The Birla family was the business family and decided to build a temple. The B.M Birla Foundation built this temple in the later year of 1988. The Moti Dongri hill is also the home to the temple of Lord Ganesha. The Birla family is a great devotee of Laxmi Narayan and has constructed these Birla temples all over the country and has their own grace and style.

Architecture

The architecture of this temple is very unique and is made of white marble. They have their own grace and are renowned for the white marble construction style. They have the similar type of domes in their construction and can be recognized from anywhere. This dome represents the different approach of Hindu religion. The Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi are hand crafted on a single stone and the hard work of the artist is simply marvelous. The walls are engraved with the Hindu mythological stories. The main gate has the idol of Lord Ganesha. The lord is the symbol of happiness and prosperity. It is said that the Lord Ganesha has to be worshipped before any other god and there has to be a permission which needs to be taken from Lord Ganesha. Most of the idols that are worshipped in the Hindu religion are present in the temple. The mesmerizing exteriors are designed by skilled artists and have engraved historical pieces of art. The interiors of the temple are designed splendidly with beautiful scenes that depict the histological era.

Best Time to Visit

The temple has visiting hours unlike other temples. The temple is closed in the afternoon from 12.00 and opens at 4.00 pm. The best season to visit the temple is from October till March. The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is celebrated as a grand festival in the temple. This festival is called Janmashtami and is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. The breathtaking view of the temple can be seen at night when it is fully lit and can be seen from the dark skyline of Jaipur.
