Wildlife Safari in Rajasthan is a famous sport to enjoy the remarkable beauty of the Mother Nature and its incredible creation – animals and birds. This safari provides an insight to fauna that is supervised under the Rajasthan’s national parks and sanctuaries. The most popular ones include Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary, Bharatpur National Park and Ranthambore National Park. All these parks are required to be visited on different days and pre-booking is necessary for these.

Ranthambore National Park is famous for tigers along with other animals and is situated in Sawai Madhopur in southeastern part of Rajasthan while Bharatpur National Park is a bird sanctuary in Bharatpur area of Rajasthan. Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is widely accredited for incorporating animals that are hard to find anywhere else and is located in Alwar district.

The Wildlife Safari is organized by the Forest Department of Rajasthan since all of the National Parks and Sanctuaries in Rajasthan are under the supervision of Rajasthan Forest Department and the best time for making a safari is summer time.

What to Bring With You

This Wildlife safari is for a day tour only and if you want you can pre-book multiple rides in order to enjoy the closeness to Mother Nature. So you won’t be needing sleeping bags or anything with you since you will be coming back to your hotel for the night. But there are certain things that you can carry along with you. Carry a first aid kit along with you, as well as any other essentials you might need which are as follow

  • A hat, cap or turban
  • Camera and film
  • Good Sun-block and Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Long-sleeve shirt with long trousers and sneakers or other type of firm shoes. Keep in mind, the sun is fierce.
  • A towel
  • Emergency Medical kit (for just in case)
  • Diary, and a pen to note down important facts
  • In the winter season warm clothes
  • A big smile along with a positive attitude
  • Mineral Water Bottle and some dry snacks
  • Remember to keep the Mother Nature clean and never leave any garbage behind.

Best Locations For The Wildlife Safari

The Wildlife Safari is carried out in the Ranthambore National Park which is in the district Sawai Madhopur in southeastern part of Rajasthan. This park is further divided into several zones and ride starts from one zone to other zone and covering all in one ride. The other locations for Wildlife Safari include Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary which are at Alwar district and Bharatpur district respectively.

Some Basic Facts

The Wildlife Safari is organized by the Forest Department of Rajasthan since all of the National Parks and Sanctuaries in Rajasthan are under the supervision of Rajasthan Forest Department. The rides are regularly carried out every day at fixed timings. The rides can last for almost 3 hours to full day long. There are many agents and tour service providers who can help you fix these rides but the final permission is under the official agency of the government which is under the administration of Rajasthan Forest Department. Sometimes people are not able to see tigers in their first ride so they opt for two rides in their tour package instead of one.

Best Time to Visit Wildlife Safari

The best time for Wildlife Safari in Rajasthan is during the hot months, from March to June. The reason for this time is the fact that the animals come forward in search of water and good chances are there to watch various animals. It is also a good option to visit there in winters but warm clothes should be carried along in winters since it can really get quite cold in forests. Majority of these safaris remains closed from 1st of June to the end of September since its rainy season during this time and the forest can get dangerous for travel at this time.

Cost of Wildlife Safari

The price of Wildlife safari is fixed according to per seat system. The Wildlife safari at Ranthambore National Park offers seats in a gypsy and a canter. For Indians the amount as per fixed by Rajasthan Forest Department is 131 INR for canter and 75 INR for canter while tourists from abroad are need to pay 530 INR, almost 9-10$ for gypsy while 475, almost 7-8$ for canter. There are some special discounts also for students. There is an additional guide fee of 42 INR which is same for foreigners as well as Indians. While in Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, the cost if 25 INR for Indians while 200 (3-4$) for foreign tourists.
