Sai Baba has dedicated his life for the welfare of masses of Shirdi region and relatively very few information is available about His parentage, birth and birth place. Sai Baba was a fakir of simple living and was very helpful in serving the people without the barrier of caste, color, creed and religion. Sai Baba fulfills the wishes of His devotees for all general and particular needs.

History of Shirdi

Shirdi village was the residence of this grand saint Sai Baba. Saint Sai Baba dedicated more than 50 years of his life time to Shirdi village and its region and converted this small area into a large pilgrimage centre for devotees from world over.

When Sai Baba was of 16 years of age, He came to this area and devoted the rest of his life for eradicating the sufferings of the poor and needy. The entire area has various connections with Sai Baba, who breathed his last in Shirdi village, now a famous shrine, in the year 1918.

Sai Teachings

A unique uprising of its kind started after coming and staying of Baba at Shirdi. Natives from all beliefs attended Sai’s teachings in that time when there was no rigid caste system in the general public who used to be distinguished by their respective religion’s faith. It is observed even today that people from all walks of life and religions visit to pay their homage to Sai Baba without any prejudice. Sai Baba was the incarnation of God - for Hindus - in the appearance of traditional Brahmin who worship Gods and study scared scriptures. Muslims considered Sai Baba as a dutiful saint who was the supporter of orders of Islamic faith and constantly voiced Allah Malik (Allah is the Master). Parsi’s believe that Sai Baba was a cleric and worshiper of the revered fire. Thus, He is an icon of unison and the seer for all religions. Anyone can experience the essence of Sai all-around if one pays a visit to the temple of Shirdi Baba for divine enlightenment.

Baba’s Miracles in Shirdi

Sai Baba was very averse in showing his unlimited powers but obliged to show few of them in order to implant the seeds of belief in his devotees. Baba’s miracles are the definite symbols of His heavenly descent.

The miracles of Baba should not turn extra vital than Himself because their chief goal is to implant the seeds of trust and draw the followers towards the holy pathway. Sai gave worldly benefits to devotees because only the benefited devotees can be pushed towards the sacred route with absolute faith. Miracles played an inducement to advance understanding of His heavenly principles and personality.

Unlimited love, infinite knowledge, limitless power and omnipresent existence are the four main characteristics of Almighty God. The ideal Guru (Master) - who functions on behalf of God and perform heavenly forms of plays, enjoys all these powers but utilize them for the good of pious persons and barely for him.

Sai Baba’s miracles are limitless; some of them have been accounted in “Life of Sai Baba” (in three volumes) and “Shri Sai Satcharitra” written by Shri Narasimha Swami and Anna Saheb Dabholkar respectively.

As a matter of fact, the miracles of Baba happened suddenly, He never executed them. Only God is potent to create miracles for His devotees through perfect Master. The miracles took place due to perfect comprehension in complete harmony with Mother Nature. These are imagined by the devotees as His awesome celestial plays (Leelas). Sai Baba confirmed these during His miracles and preaching’s/lectures and the reason of His coming. Baba would frequently say, “My Leela is impenetrable”. Thus Sai Baba’s leelas (heavenly plays) were in profusion.

Sai Baba’s Mission of Life

The undertaking of the Shirdi area by Sai Baba was self-designated on the basis of His redeemed and open spirit. Sai Baba wanted to complete a mission of development of mankind’s factual and celestial nature so He presented Himself as a body. Sai Baba taught people to get themselves free from unawareness and hallucination in order to get salvation. He remained there forever to facilitate and give relief to His children who had suffered from the wretchedness of the world through a length of time. Thus, we conclude that the worldly assignments of Sai Baba are to promote, arouse, soothe and transform the mankind - Even Baba had a superior function of execution in the management of the cosmos as its creator, sustainer and destructor. He looked upon the divinity in every living creature and performed His duty to take the creations to the originator i.e. to develop human beings to the arena of true divinity of God.

Although Sai Baba is not here physically but the ever growing number of devotees heed and experience the similar cherished, potent and sanctified guarantee-‘Why fear when I am here!’.
