Itinerary

For the aim of promoting tourism in Maharashtra, the introduction of Luxury Deccan Odyssey was done in 2005.

It was done by the collaboration between the Maharashtra government and Indian Railways, with the catering management being handled by Taj Group of Hotels. Deccan Odyssey Train is air conditioned centrally, offering the comforts of travel in luxurious style in suites and deluxe cabins, with all rooms having bathrooms attached. On the train, there are facilities such as saloons for dining car, spa with ayurveda facility, bar lounge, conference rooms, and mini gym. In India, the idea of a trip in luxury train is that people can travel from one place to another in luxurious settings, with private chambers for sleeping and enjoy the various sightseeing destinations in the places that they visit, guided through the process by a person explaining things in English. Deccan Odyssey takes tourists through the Sindhudurg Sea Fort built during the medieval times, churches and beaches of Goa, soaking in the splendor of Kolhapur’s martial arts and cultural shows and the famous Ajanta and Ellora Caves, which are declared as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
