The most spiritual place is bounded by the higher mountain that is worshipped divinely for Lord Shiva. The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has been cut out from huge rocks and forms an eye-catching cave. The temple is also adorned with the perpetual waterfall that is a must visit by all the devotees. In the Konkan region, the temple is also named as “Trimbakeshwar” temple. “Makarsankranti” is celebrated with all great zeal and zest. A fair is also held on Mahashivratri and Tripuri Poornima. On the day of Makarsankranti, marriage of Marleshwar and Girijadevi takes place. To visit the temple, one has to climb almost 200 to 250 stairs. The temple remains closed during the monsoon season. The devotees who visit this temple must not consume non-vegetarian food on that day. At times, snakes can also be seen in the temple vicinity. Upon entering the temple cave cold water “Khud” is located on the right end. Further entering into the cave, Dhareshwar waterfall can also be visited by the devotees. The Shiva ling located in the cave was earlier located at Muradpur that was moved here during 18th century. The distinct feature of this temple is that the snakes like cobra can be seen in the temple yet there have never been a case that the devotees have ever been hurt by these snakes. The temple sees maximum crowd at the time of Shravan and Nag Panchami. It is believed that the foundation of temple was laid by Lord Parsuram. The temple overlooks the Sahyadri mountain range.

How to Reach

Marleshwar can be reached taking bus operated by state transport from Devrukh that is situated at a distance of 18 kms from Marleshwar.
