Mardi Yamai Devi Temple

Mardi is a small village situated in the south of Sholapur or Solapur district and around 22 km from north of the city. The Yamai Devi Temple in Mardi is dedicated to goddess Yamai Devi. It is believed that goddess Mahalakshmi regarded goddess Yamai Devi as her elder sister and that once she called out, ‘Ye Mai’ which means ‘come here, sister’. Hence, the name Yamai.

Every year, during the Hindu Month of Chaitra, a fair is held at the temple, which is attended by thousands of devotees from all over the state.
