Khidkaleshwar Mandir

Khidkaleshwar Mandir or Khidkali Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Dombivali, Maharashtra. It is believed that the present structure of the temple was developed in the 17th century AD, while the original temple was built by Pandavas. There are many ancient idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha inside the main premises of Khidkaleshwar Mandir. This temple is beautifully located on the banks of Khidkali Lake, which gives this temple its name. There is a beautiful park in the temple premises for recreation purposes. There are some small temples of Lord Hanuman, Dattatreya and some other Gurus, which have been constructed near the Khidkaleshwar Mandir.

This temple is visited by several devotees during the Shravanmas and a pond near this temple is used by people for Ganesh Visarjan. The temple holds great significance among the devotees and they come from places far and wide to visit this temple. Although, not very big, but the temple committee organizes a fair on Maha Shivaratri.

History of Khidkaleshwar Mandir

According to a legend, this temple was built by Pandavas when they visited this place during their Aranyavasam. The eldest brother of Pandavas, Yudhishthira wanted to worship Lord Shiva and thus, the Pandavas built this temple to make a place for worship.
