Maharashtra is famous for the vast textile industry; the state has its own unique set of art forms that is very popular and is in great demand. Here, on most of the weavings, the design patterns are greatly influenced by Ajanta caves as well as the Buddhist paintings. It is believed that the weaving industry has a great historical importance. It began from as early as 200BC and there is mention about the fabrics even in Vedas.

Narayan Peth saris are one of the traditional saris worn by women in Maharashtra. This type of sarees is mostly found in the Sholapur region of Maharashtra. It is the favourite saris of the women here, mainly because these traditional saris are woven only in this region. This sari is woven in silk with contrasting zari border and unique rudraskh patterns on the pallu.
