Visvesvaraya Industrial And Technological Museum

A museum maintained by National Council of Science museum in the city of Bangalore is named as the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.
This museum formed part of Sir M. Visvesvaraya centennial revelries. In 1962, the museum was handed to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological museum was also declared as the southern headquarter of National Council of Science Museums in 1978. This council has a total of 28 centers that are located in different parts of the country. The main objective of establishing the museum is to spread awareness about the science by exhibiting various interaction shows and displays.

The museum may not be the exact appropriate word given to this place rather it is an exhibit place where interactive experiments are shown unlike the concept of museums displaying stationary artifacts and models. This place should rather be called a “Science Center”. The different floors of the museum are dedicated to the different scientific zones.

Galleries

Engine Hall

This hall displays different types of automobiles, machines, jet craft engine etc. The demonstration of a rolling ball passing through the roller coaster loops and at the end drops in a basket. It also displays the concept of “conservation of energy”.

Electro Technic Gallery

This gallery displays the concept of electricity, communication and electronics. The various exhibits of the hall are Oersted’s experiment, Faraday’s ring, Barlow’s wheel etc. The hall is a paradise for those who have interest in genesis of electricity.

Fun Science Gallery

The first floor of the museum is termed as the ‘Fun Science Gallery” that reveals various exhibits associated to sound, fluids, perception, optics and math. This is fun zone.

Space Gallery

This zone on the second floor is dedicated to rocket science and space exploration. The moving replica of the Dinosaur is displayed in this zone.

Science for Children Gallery

There is also an area associated to activities of children and hence called as “Science for Children”. The area has a massive piano that is designed such that children can play music and dance over it simultaneously. There is pin-wall that can show the impression of the body parts.

Other Attractions

Few of the other exhibits of the museum are the virtual game zone, colored bead fresco, “Taramandal” planetarium that displays different shows. The complete replica of flyer made by the Wright brothers in 1903 is also displayed here. The only other museum that displays this replica is in Smithsonian Institutions in USA.
