Among the popular and beautiful dams of Karnataka is the TG Halli Dam which is also known by the locals as Chamarajsagar. The dam has been considered to provide continuous water supply to west Bangalore after going through water and sewage treatment facilities. Thippagondanahalli Dam provides tourists with a spellbinding combination of natural and man-made surroundings. The area is full of natural beauty, both flora and fauna of a multitude of species can be found here for sightseeing. Many tourists, especially ornithologists and amateur nature clickers visit the location to have a good look at the natural scenery of the environment. No doubt the location is worth visiting because of its remarkable construction of the dam blending with alluring nature.

Construction

The dam was formulated for use in 1933 as the purpose to provide the covering regions with water. Its construction was obligatory after there was a need to supply water to the west Bangalore. So, this dam was constructed about 35 km west of Bangalore. Though the construction of the dam is not that huge but it does add to the beauty of the surrounding area which covers the variety of natural species.

Thippagondanahalli Dam is a place where a person who is a birdwatcher or nature lover would love to visit. The exotic location of the surrounding area is home to a diversity of species both plants and animals, especially birds. Every year thousands of tourists visit the location to have a look at the variety of birds present in the area. The most preferable time of visit is in the months of October to April. The place has a few hotels and accommodation areas providing tourists with comfortable stays. These accommodation areas are away from the reservoir area’s so that the natural of the location can stay intact and also away from commercialization.

By Road

Thippagondanahalli Dam is about 35 km in the West of Bangalore. So, the trip can be made via roads taxis or private cars. People visiting the area in private cars are recommended to drive away from the water reservoir as soil is quite loose in the location.

By Train

People visiting from other states can reach the Bangalore railway station from where road trips can be made to the location.
