This scenic stream named Ferozepur Nallah is placed between the Nurpur and Chinamarg pass which is just 5 km from Gulmarg. It is possible to reach till Ferozepur Nallah from Tanmarg or from the circular walk. This place is apt for anyone willing to go out picnicking with their loved ones.

Gulmarg is a flower laden meadow and is a delight to those eyes. It lies in Baramulla district at an altitude of 2730 meters. It is at a distance of 51 km from Srinagar and resembles a saucer-shaped bowl like structure over the main valley of Kashmir. The mountain peaks are full of tall and hefty conifers, pine and fir trees in a fight with each other to be the first to touch the sky. The view and scenery from Gulmarg is breathtaking which is visible clearly during a clear day. The cluster of walnuts, mulberry and pear, rice fields, beautiful green meadows, forests are a delight to watch. One can also move ahead towards the snowy slopes of Khilanmarg and the magnificent Nanga Parbat peak at a distance of 100 km.

This is a very popular destination to visit during winters and the finest ski slopes are loved by everyone. The thick layer of snow is what attracts many tourists during the chilly season. People skiing on those snow covered mountains just fly past and the air looks sparkling. There are trained professionals at the sight to teach and tell about skiing with all the necessary equipments available at the spot.

Best Time to Visit

Best time to visit this paradise is from March to October. The extreme low temperatures in winters can be a deterrent for those who wish to explore the district. Summers are the best season to visit this place as one can freely roam around without any hassles.

How to Reach

The closest railway line is in Jammu and the many trains to the other parts of India is a convenient option and also direct trains to the northern part of India makes it even more easier for people to reach Jammu. Trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai Trivandrum and Chennai depart very frequently to Jammu which is often found to be jam packed during the peak of tourist’s seasons. The distance from Delhi to Gulmarg is around 901 km and one can take a train till Jammu and then, hire taxis or buses till Gulmarg.

The closest airport is in Srinagar at a distance of 56 km from Gulmarg and one can get taxis, buses and jeeps from the airport to Gulmarg. The best part is the connectivity to Srinagar with the other parts of India.

This location is the best for those who plan to go out for picnics with their folks. Also, it is a famous place for trout fishing. People usually come here to ski as the mountains are covered with at least 20-25 ft of snow and this location has some of the most highest and the best ski points that can cater to the beginners and experts as well. The beginners opt for 200-300 meter long slopes but those are very adventurous, they generally go for the Apharwat hills that offer a 5 km long run. The highest peak at an altitude of 4,124 can be reached by a Gondola ride which is a very famous ride.
