Burhazma Ruins

The relics of this ancient settlement are situated in north-west Kashmir in the picturesque city of Srinagar. It was discovered after an excavation carried out by the Archaeological Department of India in 1961. Extensive studies and findings state that this civilization is millenniums old and dates back to the Neolithic age.

A lot earthen utensils, tools, bricks and other artefacts that have been discovered depict the lifestyle of its ancient inhabitants. These items have been preserved carefully, henceforth.

These ruins represent the beginning of civilization in Kashmir. Burz Hama ruins are one of the important aspects of Kashmir's ancient history. This settlement is said to have passed through the earliest stages of civilization and thus, archaeologists have divided its development into 4 stages, which shows a clear transition from mud houses to bricks.

The ruins have many carvings and paintings that have senesced over time.
