A new facility is introduced by HRTC so that the passengers can get their reservations made at least one month before. This will be helpful for all passengers and they can plan their trip in a better way.
There are lots of destinations within and outside the state from where booking can be done including Kangra, Delhi, Chamba, Shimla, Manali, Haridwar, Mandi, Palampur, Kullu etc. As these locations have a computerized system, therefore it becomes quite easy to check and confirm their reservation at least one month before. Apart from trains, you can also enjoy excellent bus facility being provided to the people. You can catch buses to different places from Dharamsala and its pre booking can be done via HRTC.  Other destinations for bus booking are Mcload Ganj, Dharamsala and Kangra.

About & History of HRTC Online Tickets

HRTC, also known as The Himachal Road Transport Corporation, was founded in 1974 under the Road Transport Corporation Act of 1950. In 1995-95, corporation felt the need of an in house software that could be used for booking tickets. The software was designed using platforms like MS COBOL 85 along with an operating system SCO Unix that could provide real time information to 15 locations where computerized systems were employed. The total cost of this entire setup was around Rs 15 Lakh.

In April 2006, Shogi Communication Limited (SCL), Shimla was given the charge of handling online booking services. Currently, buses ply on several routes and long distance booking are stopped four days before the journey begins and information of all the passengers is sent to all head offices and regional managers too.

The overall motive of switching to online booking was

  • To offer a better experience to the passengers
  • Enhance the services to overcome revenue leakage
  • Exercise complete control
