Miyani Beach

The state of Gujarat is a beautiful place with extensive coastline of approximately 1600 km. There are various beautiful and undeveloped beaches in Gujarat. Miyani beach is one among the undeveloped and virgin beach located at a distance of 36 km from Porbandar. Tourists need to take a two hour journey along the coastal NH-8E roadway to reach this beach. The beach is at the walking distance from Miyani village. One can also enjoy other tourist attractions near Miyani beach which includes Sudama temple, Kirti temple, Hsarsidhhi temple and Brahma temple. Miyani village is a typical fishing village comprising of 1000 residents and here, one can try their hands at fishing. The place also carries the famous Kokanshah Pir mosque. This mosque is known to be in existence since 8th century and it is one among significant archaeological sites.

There is Barda Wildlife Sanctuary at a distance of about 2 to 5 km. A dam has been constructed across the river Meda and a fresh water reservoir is situated near to the beach. This reservoir gives good view of all local and migratory birds. One may opt for a local tourist guide to roam around this entire area. Miyani beach is presently under development and there are only restricted activities in the beach. The Gujarat Maritime Board emerged with various plans to construct a beach resort, adventure sports, water sports and nature trails around this beach but it may take at least 1 or 2 years to commence.

The beach alone gives a splendid experience with clean water and fine powdery textured sand among few rocks on the surface of the beach. One can accommodate in this place or at Porbandar in the form of home stay amenities or budget apartments. Miyani beach is still in a pristine stage that is inaccessible from international cities. However, Gujarat Maritime Board has already detected the popularity of this tiny beach and indulged in plans to invest effort and money to develop this tourist spot and present it in a wonderful manner to international tourists. This beach is also taken into consideration under the Government Sagarkhedu Project in their redevelopment programme. This sincere effort will definitely make Miyani Beach as one of the highly preferred tourist beaches in Gujarat.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit this beach is during summer season. Winter season is also preferable. It is good to enjoy this beach between November and March when there are tides and pleasant weather conditions. However, it is advisable to check the local climatic conditions, before planning the trip.

How to Reach


By Road

Miyani Beach is situated centrally and can be easily reached. There are frequent government or ST buses plying through these roads or one can opt for private buses too. There is a direct bus facility from every big city in Gujarat like Junagadh, Jamnagar, Veraval, Dwarka and Rajkot towards this beach.

By Rail

The nearest railway station is at Porbandar. Porbandar is linked to all other major places of Gujarat like Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Rajkot. One can search for any local train to reach this place conveniently.
