The stadium is named after the Chairman of Indian Constituent assembly and famous dalit leader Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar or B. R. Ambedkar. The stadium is a football field opened in the year 2007 and is used for football tournaments. Various international football events like Nehru Cup 2007 and 2009 were played here. The pitch is frequently used by Indian football team. In the year 2007 the stadium earned new floodlights during renovation. The ground has the capability of conducting day and night matches; the ground is well maintained and perfect sized. Ambedkar Stadium is one of the FIFA approved grounds which was utilised for matches during FIFA World Cup. The stadium is located in Daryaganj area of New Delhi. The stadium can be utilised for other sports like cricket, basketball, swimming, hockey and running. The stadium is used for other cultural events like music concerts and dance performances. Ambedkar Stadium is the busiest sporting destination in the city of Delhi.
