The DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex is a popular sports venue in the capital. It is located at August Kranti Marg in New Delhi. This is one of the oldest sports complexes in the city. It has been host to a number of reputed international events for decades. To get to DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex, one needs to take the Moolchand flyover or Green Park/Hauz Khas Metro Station. From there one can take an auto/cab to the location.

Location

DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex is located in New Delhi, India. It is located next to the Asian Games Village built by the Delhi Development Authority. The complex is located near the historic, now in ruins, Siri Fort. This Fort was built by Allauddin Khaji in 1303 AD. This is why this sports complex gets its name from “Siri” – the ancient name for the city of Delhi.

This Fort is unique in the whole of the North Eastern Part of India. It spreads over an area of 13 hectares. This fort is surrounded by lovely green lawns and has a mini forest.

Construction

DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex was built in 1982 for the Asian Games. This complex has a total of 12 tennis courts that includes 8 synthetic courts. Besides this, it has a tennis practice wall, glass back wall courts for squash,  practice walls for tennis, table tennis courts, hockey ground, cricket field, badminton court, jogging and walking track, basketball court, golf driving range, football field, cricket practice pitch, snooker/billiards, golf pitch and putt course, yoga, aerobics, toodler’s pool, Olympic size swimming pool, multi-purpose indoor stadium, centers for naturopathy, reiki, snack bars, air rifle shooting, sports shop and a health & nutrition centre.

Rules and Regulations

The DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex remains closed on Mondays and on three national holidays namely, Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti (Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi). Senior citizens above the age of 60 years get special discounts for being members of this sports complex.

The DDA Siri Fort Sports Complex had hosted the Squash and Badminton competitions for the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Today, this popular sports stadium is a popular venue for both national and international sports events. Since 1989, it has several word class amenities!
