Delhi Book Fair
New Delhi World Book Fair is a major calendar event of the city and of the publishing world. This is India’s oldest book fair, which started from 1972. Since 41 years, the fair has been providing a terrific platform for readers and writers and everybody involved in the publishing business to come together to share ideas and do business.
The fair is held every year at Pragati Maidan. It is organized by the joint efforts of National Book Trust (NBT), an apex structure of the Government of India that comes under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, and India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), a nodal body of the Government of India that comes under the Ministry of Commerce.
Time of Fair
The 23rd New Delhi World Book Fair 2015 was held from February 14 to 22.
The theme was “Suryoday: Emerging Voices from Northeast India.” The fair’s slogan was: “Books opening the mind; doors opening the future.” Singapore was the Guest of Honor country this year.
New Delhi World Book Fair 2016 is scheduled to be held from January 9 to 17. China is supposed to be the Guest of Honor country next year.
