MEC Art Gallery

Since the time of its inception the gallery tried to create a platform for the less familiar artists and also make art accessible by pricing them reasonably. Gradually they increased their collector clientele by including the artists with a higher price range. They showcase paintings with oil as the medium although the watercolours remain their mainstay. It has exhibited the works of contemporary artists like Paresh Maity, M.F.Hussain, Jogen Chowdhury, Manjit Bawa, Anupam Singh, Lalu Prasad Shaw, Jai Zharotia, Jagdish Dey and many others. They provide mailing services to their buyer-members and also offer discounts on the paintings. The shows display paintings as well as graphics and sculptures. They plan to organize camps for artists so that ideas are exchanged and the flow of creativity enhances.. Apart from holding exhibitions on contemporary art it provides unique authentication certificates to the collector which is an assurance of the value of their investment. They also have another branch at Greater Kailash, New Delhi.

It was founded in the month of February 1991 and began its journey by exhibiting the works of upcoming artists and water-colorists. The gallery was inaugurated by Late Shri Gaini Zail Singh, who was the President of India at that time. It wanted the buyers to access artworks at affordable prices. This approach made them introduce lots of artists from Delhi, U.P and Bengal to art-lovers of the city. Gradually, to enlist the collectors in their list of clientele they began showcasing the works of artists whose works came with a higher price tag. The profile of the gallery was uplifted by the association with Bollywood celebrities like Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon, Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
