International Dolls Museum

The International Dolls Museum was set up during the year 1985, in city of Chandigarh and it attracts hundreds of tourists every day within India and abroad. Foreign tourists are stunned by the variety of options that they have, for sightseeing while in Chandigarh. Being the capital of both Punjab and Haryana states, Chandigarh is famous all over the word for its renowned Gurudwaras. The International Dolls Museum is a place that kids would never want to leave from. There are more than 300 different types and sizes of dolls that have been brought here from far off countries like Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Korea and Spain. Kids have a whale of a time in this museum as they have toy trains in which they can just go around and feel happy. Coloured murals of ten different countries form the perfect backdrop for the excellent variety of dolls that are exhibited here.

This museum is a must-visit place for kids to understand the cultures of various countries. There is a separate section in the museum that houses dolls depicting Indian culture and tradition. There is a remarkable replica of the world-famous Germany railway station in the middle of the museum which makes the kids go gaga. Characters that are etched evergreen in the kids’ memory like Cinderella, Ali Baba and Forty Thieves, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and the magic lamp etc. are depicted in forms of beautiful dolls here.

To keep up pace with the increased number of tourists that visit this museum every year, the tourism ministry of Chandigarh has undertaken various up gradations and renovations in this museum frequently to equip it with state-of-the art facilities. The huge variety of dolls, the atmosphere and the cultural representations make this museum a must visit place for kids who visit Chandigarh. The museum remains closed on Sundays and national holidays. The working hours for this museum are 10AM to 5PM.

How to Reach


By Air

Chandigarh is the nearest airport from this museum and it is well connected with flights from major cities like Delhi every day. Local tourists can reach this place after getting down at Chandigarh airport. Cabs are available from here to the museum for just about Rs 100. International tourists can access this museum after getting down at the Delhi International Airport.

By Train

The main railway junction of Chandigarh is the nearest railway station from here. It is a busy station and it is well connected with trains with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana and Lucknow.

By Bus

The Chandigarh State Government has a fleet of buses operating daily between the city and other major places. There are air-conditioned, semi air-conditioned, deluxe, luxury, Volvo, sleeper and other normal buses that ply daily to connect Chandigarh with Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi which is at a distance of 260km, Shimla which is at a distance of 110km, Dehradun which is at a distance of 175km and Manali which is at a distance of 320km from the city.
