History

Many years back, Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded and his sacred head was lying, without anybody daring to pick up his head out of fear. Soon a very strong storm covered the city like a dark blanket. During the storm, one of the devotees of the Guru fled with his head and burnt the house of the latter to cremate the sacred body of the divine soul. On his way back to Chandigarh, the devotee met a Muslim fakir who gave him shelter and also kept the sacred head of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The Fakir also expressed his desire to meet Guru Gobind Singh ji. Many years later after winning the battle of Bhangani, Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited the place and also met the fakir. He went and visited the place where the sacred head of Guru Tej Bhadur was placed and paid tribute to it. After the death of fakir, a shrine was constructed within the precincts of the Gurudwara. Since then, large number of followers comes here to pay tribute and offer prayers in the Gurudwara.
