Shanti Kunj garden located between Cricket stadium at sector- 16and Rose garden presents a serene, pollution free atmosphere in Chandigarh city. Large amount of trees and plants in the garden provide soothing effect even in hot summer months. There are numerous herbs and medicinal plants in this garden which provide excellent healing effect. Shanti Kunj garden is divided into five segments by a natural stream flowing through the garden.
ShantiKunj is dedicated to impart spiritual, cultural, moral and ethical consciousness among people. The main motto of this ashram is to keep up national integration and work towards global peace, harmony, friendship and universal brotherhoodness. People from all faiths, caste, creed, religion, sect and region visit this serene atmosphere to offer their prayers for universal peace.
ShantiKunj works towards achieving its target of national integration, unity, elimination of jealousy, ignorance and hatred by using age old traditions of Mantra, Sanskar and Yagya. Motivational lectures are also conducted to bring about importance of human values and virtues in life.
Training Provided by Shantikunj
ShantiKunj organizes various training programs with an aim to enhance moral, ethical, spiritual, and cultural values. The programs also focus on youth development and national integration. Some of the programs which are periodically conducted include
- Music training for duration of 3 months to impart proficiency in Sangeet.
- Art of Leading training camps and Serving camp for 1 month duration.
- Art of Relating training camps and Art of Living for 9 days duration.
Shanti Kunj also organizes training camps for Govt. employees, Factory, Corporation, Bank officers, and employees on subjects like organizational management, work culture, life style, behavioral science, Time value, health issues, national integration and discipline in life.
Certain programs aim at providing self employment and personality development for villagers. The duration of this course is nine days. The training programs for village folks include poultry development, dairy production, horticulture, cottage industries and herbal production.
Programs at Shanti Kunj aim at providing all round community development further leading to nation building. Development of good virtues and values are believed to breed good citizen. These morals and good values would help in better nation building.
How to Reach
Chandigarh city is well connected by Train, road and flight. There are two National Highways, which connects Chandigarh with other important cities of the country. NH-22 connects Chandigarh to Leh and NH-21 connects it with KInnaur. There are numerous pilgrimage centers and popular towns located in the vicinity of Chandigarh city. Excellent bus services by both Road transport corporation and private operators consisting of luxury, Volvo and deluxe provide easy transportation.
By Train
Chandigarh is a main railway station in the Northern Railway. It is well connected with other cities of the country via important railhead. Himalayan Queen and Shatabdi Express are two luxurious trainsthat connect the national capital, Delhi. Both these trains operate daily.
By Air
The airport is located at a distance of twelve km. Regular flights operate between Amritsar, Leh and Delhi.
